A banda Kiss prepara, para o dia 16 de outubro, o lançamento de seu 20º álbum de estúdio, “Monster”. Falando sobre esse trabalho à revista Rolling Stones, o linguarudo baixista Gene Simmons destacou:
“Se esse fosse o primeiro disco de uma nova banda, eu ficaria estarrecido. Se você gosta de guitarras e baterias, esse é o seu lugar. Ele é implacável até o fim. Não estamos fazendo thrash. Não tem nada disso. É coisa simples e direta. Sem enrolação. E sem baladas, seção de cordas, menininhos cantando a capela, eunucos cantando ao fundo”.
O músico também ressaltou o ambiente no grupo. “A banda está mais focada do que nunca. O clima está ótimo na banda – revigorada, redefinida, renascida e com um novo foco”, disse.
Gene Simmons e o vocalista Paul Stanley permanecem sendo os únicos integrantes originais da banda, sendo que o “Monster” é o segundo disco consecutivo do Kiss, na sequencia do “Sonic Boom”, de 2009, criado com a formação que conta, além dos dois, com o baterista Eric Singer e o guitarrista Tommy Thayer.
O disco foi gravado em estúdios em Los Angeles e arredores e, assim como o Sonic Boom, foi co-produzido por Stanley e Greg Collins. Apesar de ter sido concluído há alguns meses, o baixista afirma que não faria sentido apressar as coisas, “Só porque você tem muita munição não significa que você tenha de sair atirando logo de cara, você tem de controlar seu ritmo”.
Atualmente, Simmons está curtindo a estrada junto com o Mötley Crüe, uma das diversas lendárias bandas, incluindo Bon Jovi e AC/DC, que ele diz se orgulhar de trazido em suas primeiras grandes turnês há alguns anos.
